Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2011134636A2] The invention relates to a pipe element (1) for a drilling or extraction pipe string (13), comprising an outer tube (2) of electrically conductive material and an electrical conductor which is led through the outer tube (2) and is electrically insulated from the outer tube (2), wherein the electrical conductor is an inner tube (3) of electrically conductive material, and wherein the inner tube (3) is arranged concentrically in relation to the outer tube (2). In order to provide a drilling or extraction pipe string (13) that allows electrical power to be supplied to electrically operated devices incorporated in the string (13) and/or data transmission between above ground and below ground, it is proposed by the invention that a hollow space (4) in the form of an annular gap is arranged between the inner tube (3) and the outer tube (2).
