The dryer (1) has an exhaust air duct (2) provided with a supply air duct (12) is arranged between drying chamber (3) and cross-flow heat exchanger (14). The exhaust air duct and cross-flow heat exchanger are provided such that the process air is flowed with respect to cooling flow inlet (24) of cross-flow heat exchanger by the exhaust air duct, with greater proportion. The flow guidance portion in the exhaust air duct is provided in the flowing against region of the cross-flow heat exchanger. An independent claim is included for method for operating dryer.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Trockner 1, umfassend eine Steuereinrichtung 11, einen Prozessluftkanal 2,12, in welchem eine Heizung 27, eine Trocknungskammer 3 für zu trocknende Gegenstände, ein Gebläse 15 und ein Kreuzstromwärmetauscher 14 angeordnet sind, wobei der Prozessluftkanal 2,12 einen Zuluftkanal 12 vor der Trocknungskammer 3 und einen Abluftkanal 2 zwischen Trocknungskammer 3 und Kreuzstromwärmetauscher 14 umfasst, und wobei der Abluftkanal 2 und/oder der Kreuzstromwärmetauscher 14 derart ausgebildet ist/sind, dass ein größerer Anteil p*M einer Prozessluftmenge M, die durch den Abluftkanal 2 in den Kreuzstromwärmetauscher 14 fließt, wobei p > 0,5 gilt, zu einer Kühlstromeintrittsseite 24 des Kreuzstromwärmetauschers 14 geleitet wird. Die Erfindung betrifft außerdem ein Verfahren zum Betrieb dieses Trockners.
