[origin: WO2011138366A1] The present invention relates to a novel fibrous composition for paper or card production, which contains an oxidized wastepaper stuff and/or an oxidized mechanical stuff into which 1 to 500 mmol of carboxyl groups per kg and 1 to 200 mmol of aldehyde groups per kg were introduced by oxidation. The invention also relates to paper and card based on such a fibrous composition and also to a process for producing such a paper or card. The invention also relates to the use of oxidized wastepaper stuff and/or oxidized mechanical stuff to improve the retention and drainage properties of a stuff suitable for the production of paper or card. The invention further relates to the use of oxidized wastepaper stuff and/or oxidized mechanical stuff to improve, i.e. enhance, the dry strength of paper and card.
