[origin: WO2011141172A1] The invention relates to an armored vehicle comprising a body (7) that is connected to an armored steel frame (1) which surrounds an armored glass pane (5) at the edges. The aim of the invention is to reduce the weight of the armored steel frame (1) of such a vehicle in comparison with known armored steel frames (1). According to the invention, this is achieved in that the armored steel frame (1) is entirely or partly coated with a layer (8-8'') which is made of aramid, a glass fiber, or a PE fiber and which impedes the penetration of ballistic projectiles. This allows the walls of the armored steel frame (1) to be thinner than in known frames because some of the energy that is transmitted by the ballistic projectiles is absorbed by the relatively light layer (8-8'').
