Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2573243A1] Producing a nonwoven fabric comprising at least two polymers, where the melting point of at least one first polymer is located above the melting point of at least a second polymer, comprises providing multicomponent fibers, which comprise at least two polymers having different melting points, and carrying out surface bonding of the multicomponent fibers by the application of a temperature of 100-300[deg] C and a pressure of 40-150 N/mm, such that at least one first polymer in the form of elementary segments are distributed in a matrix of at least one second polymer. Independent claims are also included for (i) the nonwoven fabric formed as a base material for coating with films produced by the above mentioned method, which exhibits a bending stiffness of 1-10 N/mm 2>, measured according to DIN 53 350at a bending angle of 10% and/or the bending stiffness of 2-13 N/mm 2>at the bending angle of 40%, and (ii) a composite material comprising at least one first layer, which include non-woven fabric and at least one second layer, preferably as a film.
