[origin: WO2011151162A1] The present invention relates to a method and a device for generating hot steam in a continuous casting machine and to the use of the device in a continuous casting installation for producing a strand of steel. The object of the invention is to provide a method and a device for generating hot steam with which great amounts of heat can be removed from the mould even at relatively low temperatures and, nevertheless, the hot steam has a high energy content, allowing it to be fed to a steam turbine for heat recovery. This object is achieved by a method in which an organic cooling medium, in particular an alcohol or a thermal oil, is used and the hot steam has before expansion a temperature of 180 to 400°C.
