[origin: WO2011147823A1] A composition is provided comprising a) cellulose fibres having a number average length of from 0.001 to 0.5 mm and a specific surface area of from 1 to 100 m2/g; b) an at least partially hydrolysed vinyl acetate polymer; and c) at least one anionic polymer. The composition is useful in providing self-supporting films or coating layers for providing barriers to permeable substrates.
