[origin: EP2578370A1] The device has a sawing equipment (4) i.e. under table saw, moved along a saw line (3) for sawing workpieces along the saw line. A workpiece conveying device transports the workpieces to the saw line along transport direction (6) running transverse or orthogonal to the saw line. A stop unit (7) is arranged behind the saw line and considered in the direction. The stop unit is viewed in the transport direction, and exhibits a spacing (16) to the saw line of less than 10 cm, preferably less than 1 cm. The conveying device comprises a partly driven roller as a support for the workpieces. The stop unit is designed as a part of a pivotable toggle lever. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a saw device.
