[origin: WO2011157964A1] The present invention relates to the use of a catalyst system to reduce the NOx-type oxidizing pollutants, particularly NO2, contained in a gas to be purified, the catalyst system comprising or consisting of an oxide satisfying the molar formula Ce1-y-zO2-xMyNz in which: Ce is cerium ; M is an element chosen from: Gd, Y, Se, Sm, La, Pr, Nd, Er and Tb; y is between 0.01 and 0.4; N is an element having several valences, chosen from: Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Cu; z is less than 0.4; and x is greater than 0.05.
