[origin: EP2584200A2] The gas inlet valve (1) has a piston unit (42) that is provided with piston portions. The piston portions are provided in corresponding barrel portion (22) of housing (2). A piston rod (38) is provided in housing and valve portion (57) of valve device (6) is mechanically coupled with a piston unit. A fluid conduit (39) and cylinder chamber of barrel portion is operatively connected with gas outlet portion (4). An actuating pressure is applied to another cylinder chamber of another barrel portion for lifting valve portion of valve seat (56). An independent claim is included for a method for operating compressor.
