[origin: WO2011161381A1] The invention relates to a hair-styling appliance, including: first (1) and second (2) jaws pivotably connected together between an open position and a closed position in which said jaws define, by means of opposite working surfaces (S1, S2), a treatment area; and electric heating means (7, 8), wherein the first jaw (1) includes at least: one friction bar (10) having a friction surface (13) which defines a plane parallel to the adjacent working surface (S1) and which engages with an element (6) of the second jaw (2) in order to define, in the closed position, a pulling area that generates, when the device is moved across a lock of hair, a pulling force in addition to the pulling force generated by the treatment area; and a means for adjusting the distance between the plane of the friction surface (13) and the working surface (S1), said distance being measured perpendicular to the working surface (S1).
