[origin: WO2011160730A1] The invention relates to a method for producing omega-amino acids or their esters, the method being characterized by the following steps: (a) ozonolysis of unsaturated fatty acids or fatty acid derivatives; (b) reductive amination of the reaction mixture obtained from the reaction with ozone to form omega-amino acid or its esters, the reaction being carried out with a C1 to C5 alcohol in the mixture with at least 0.5 wt% water as solvent relative to the total amount of solvent.
