[origin: WO2012000689A1] A process for producing brushes by means of an apparatus comprises the following steps: providing either at least one prefabricated base part (14) to which clusters of bristles (16) are fastened and which forms a portion of the finished brush, where a separate supportive layer (30) is applied to the back of the base part (14), or at least one prefabricated base part (14) which is formed by insert moulding a plurality of clusters of bristles (16) with bristle ends which have been fused together beforehand, feeding and positioning the base part (14) covered with bristles to and in an injection mould, wherein, in a cavity (46) of a mould half of the injection mould, the edge of each base part (14) rests on the edge (50) of an opening (48) starting from the associated cavity (46), and the clusters of bristles (16) protrude into the opening (48), and moulding a brush portion onto the back of the base part. Also described is an apparatus for producing brushes.
