Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2012001301A1] The invention relates to a contraceptive device, including a stopper (10) having a body which is made of a flexible material and the configuration of which is cylindrical or the like, and including two stabilizing means (11-12) in the form of a whalebone or tab, which are deformable and foldable along the body of the stopper when in an unbiased state, and which are radially spaced apart from each other when placed in the isthmic portion of the Fallopian tube, wherein said means are in opposite positions so as to be placed in the isthmic portion of the tube (for the distal side) as well as (on the proximal end) on the edges of the tubal ostium, characterized in that the device includes, along the body, a plurality of projecting portions (10a) which are in a furrowed configuration and which are set up continuously over the entire length of said body of the stopper from the tapered bulge of the proximal end to the spherical distal end of the head (10b), and which have the dual function of blocking off the tubal lumen and providing protection against tubal haustrations. Said portions (10a) fit into the alveoli (7) formed in the body of the tube and are in contact with some of the mucous folds or haustrations (8) while generating the deformation of the alveoli (7), so as to provide the dual function of sealing off and obstructing spermatozoa, and closing off the other mucous folds in order to protect the surface thereof and protect the other closed mucous folds that are not in direct contact therewith, with a view to the enabling the reversibility of the contraceptive device.
