[origin: EP2591760A1] The bed has a base (12) comprising a base-side part (26) separated from a head end-side part (32). The head-end-side part includes a head end-side lifting unit (56) for adjusting height of a head end side bed frame part (34), and is carried by a mattress support device (16) between minimum and maximum height positions. The head-end-side lifting unit acts on the head end side bed frame. A base side stroke unit (54) engages a base-side bed frame part (28), where the base-side bed frame part is supported in the minimum height position of the base-side part.
