The method is essentially characterised in that, in order to produce the structure (8), liquid and/or powdery coating material is applied in one or more layers to the substrate or to the decorative finish, regions of the applied coating material are solidified by means of at least one digitally controllable device (7), and the device (7) is controlled using structure data present in digital form.
