[origin: WO2012007092A1] The invention relates to a method for protecting a unit (2) for processing a web substrate (3) in order to prevent the substrate (3) from becoming jammed inside the unit (2), wherein the unit (2) processes the substrate (3) at a standstill in a machine (1) for producing packaging units, wherein the method includes the steps of: detecting that the processed substrate (6) has not exited the outlet of the unit (2); stopping the motor (22) of an insertion assembly (14) so as to prevent the entry of the substrate (3) into the unit (2); stopping a motor (17) of a sensitive control (11); and simultaneously stopping the machine (1).
