[origin: WO2012007364A1] The invention relates to a process for the preparation of surface sizing composition comprising separately adding to an aqueous component comprising at least 80 wt% of water: (a) an aqueous dispersion comprising an alkenylsuccinic anhydride (ASA); and, (b) a non-ionic, amphoteric, cationic, or anionic polymer. The invention also relates to a composition obtainable thereby and a process for surface treatment of paper.
