[origin: EP2595132A2] The hazard detector (1) has sensor element (2) having gas sensor (3,4) provided within the element sheath (7) for determining concentration of gas particles in ambient air. The determination is made whether the gas sensor (3,4) is freely accessible. The sensor element has humidity sensor (5) and temperature sensor (6) for joint arrangement with gas sensor (3,4), to detect gas particle concentration different from that of concentration measurement of gas sensor (3,4). The permeability of permeable region (8) of element sheath is evaluated based on fluctuation range of hazard detector.
