[origin: EP2422894A1] A volume temperature distribution of roller (3) is determined based on heat flux distribution of a surface of roller by temperature model unit. The temperature distribution volume is spatially resolved in axial and radial directions of roller. The heat flux distribution is spatially resolved in axial and tangential directions of roller. The upper surface temperature is determined based on updated volume distribution of temperature and/or heat flux distribution of roller. The wear of roller is determined by a wear model unit (11) using upper surface temperature of roller. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) computer program for determining wear of roller for rolled stock; and (2) rolling mill.
