[origin: GB2482390A] Disclosed is a strap having a flat power curve for incorporation into womens clothing including brassieres, sports bras and swimwear, wherein the strap stretches no more than 25% when subjected to a load of 0.6 lbf and stretches at least 60% when subjected to a load of 2.2 lbf when the strap is subjected to the power curve test method. The strap is preferably manufactured by weaving and may comprise elastomeric yarn that is preferably covered elastomeric yarn. Also disclosed are a brassiere comprising the strap of the invention, a further strap comprising a flat power curve wherein the difference between the percentage stretch of the strap when subjected to a load of 2.2 lbf and when subjected to a load of 0.6 lbf is at least 50%, and a further brassiere comprising a strap wherein the difference between the calculated stretched length of the strap when subjected to a load of 2.2 lbf is at least four inches greater than the calculated stretched length when subjected to a load of 0.6 lbf.
