The method involves setting and detecting a preparation vessel (7) on a cooking zone (3-6) of cooking hob (1). An operating condition of cooking hob is set, by moving an operating element (10) relative to a hotplate (2). The preparation vessel is displayed on a virtual screen (12) of the hob. The position and/or size and/or shape of bottom surface of cooking vessel are displayed on screen. An independent claim is included for a cooking hob.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Kochfelds (1), bei welchem ein Zubereitungsgefäß (7, 19, 20) auf einer Kochzone (3 bis 6) des Kochfelds (1) aufgestellt und erkannt wird, und durch Bewegen eines Bedienelements (10) relativ zu einer Kochfeldplatte (2) eine Betriebsbedingung des Kochfelds (1) eingestellt wird, wobei das Zubereitungsgefäß (7, 19, 20) auf einem Bildschirm (12) des Kochfelds (1) virtuell angezeigt wird. Die Erfindung betrifft auch ein Kochfeld (1).
