[origin: WO2013041240A1] The invention relates to a method for enveloping an item to be packaged, comprising the method steps of: (a) supplying the item to be packaged to a wrapping unit using a first supply unit, (b) cutting a packaging blank to size from a material that has been supplied, (c) supplying the packaging blank to the wrapping unit using a second supply unit, (d) bringing the item to be packaged and the packaging blank together in said wrapping unit, and (e) using the wrapping unit to wrap the item to be packaged with said packaging blank, the item to be packaged and the packaging blank being supplied to the wrapping unit in a line and in opposite directions to one another, at least in one section. This method and such an installation should allow an item to be packaged in a particularly flexible, simple and fast manner with production costs and manufacturing times being kept low. In addition, the packaging blank comprises two side flaps, a base flap, and a closing flap, and the wrapping of the item to be packaged comprises the additional method steps of: e1) wrapping the item to be packaged by folding the side flaps, and by folding the base flap, in any order, e2) adhesion of the side flaps and the base flap, and e3) wrapping the item to be packaged by folding the closing flap.
