[origin: WO2012019748A1] The invention relates to a window, comprising a window frame, which has a window frame rebate, and a sash, wherein the sash can be pivotably attached to the window frame of the window. The aim of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art and to provide a window that offers improved thermal insulation properties compared to traditional rebate seal systems and that is cheap to produce and easy to clean. Said aim should be achieved in that a window frame rebate has at least one step-shaped elevation, by means of which the window frame rebate is divided into an upper rebate area and a lower rebate area, and in that the distance between the upper rebate area and the side of the sash facing the window frame rebate when the window is closed is at most 3 mm.
