Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2604362A2] The purpose of the present invention is to provide an apparatus for molding a mold and a method for molding a mold which can prevent foundry sand from becoming attached to an inner surface of a sand hopper and to make the structure of the apparatus simple. The apparatus supplies foundry sand into a molding space formed by a pattern plate, a flask, and a filling frame that are placed on a pattern carrier by means of a sand-filling device. Then the apparatus squeezes the foundry sand in the molding space by means of a squeezing device to mold a mold. The apparatus comprises a sand hopper that stores foundry sand in its inside. The sand hopper is disposed above the flask and the filling frame. The apparatus further comprises an openable louver gate disposed in the sand hopper. The apparatus further comprises an opening and closing device for opening and closing a sand-feeding opening. The sand-feeding opening is an opening for supplying the foundry sand into the sand hopper. The opening and closing device is disposed above the sand hopper. The apparatus further comprises an air-blowing chamber attached to the inner surface of the sand hopper.
