Preparing wood products comprises: (a) providing lignocellulose containing comminution products; (b1) introducing a first additive to the lignocellulose containing comminution products, where the first additive is an amidine compound (I); (b2) introducing a second additive to the lignocellulose-containing comminution products, where the second additive is borate, aluminate and/or phosphate; and (c) optionally compressing the lignocellulose containing comminution products mixed with the additive/additives with an adhesive under heat treatment to form wood material. Preparing wood products comprises: (a) providing lignocellulose containing comminution products; (b1) introducing a first additive to the lignocellulose containing comminution products, where the first additive is an amidine compound of formula (RC(=NH)-NH 2) (I) or optionally its salt; (b2) introducing a second additive to the lignocellulose-containing comminution products, where the second additive is borate, aluminate and/or phosphate; and (c) optionally compressing the lignocellulose containing comminution products mixed with the additive/additives with an adhesive under heat treatment to form wood material, where the addition of the additives can be reduced according to the emission of volatile organic compounds and optionally very volatile organic compounds, preferably acids and terpenes. Die vorliegende Anmeldung betrifft Verfahren zur Herstellung von Holzwerkstoffen aus Lignocellulose, insbesondere zur Herstellung von Spanplatten, Faserplatten oder OSB-Platten, wobei diese Holzwerkstoffe zur Vermeidung oder Verminderung der Emission von flüchtigen organischen Verbindungen und ggf. sehr flüchtigen organischen Verbindungen, insbesondere Terpenen und Säuren, bei der Herstellung mit mindestens einem Additiv behandelt werden. Insbesondere handelt es sich bei diesen Additiven um Amidine und/oder Borate. In einem weiteren Aspekt richtet sich die vorliegende Anmeldung auf die Verwendung von Amidinen und/oder Boraten als Additive bei der Herstellung von Holzwerkstoffen aus Lignocellulose zur Verminderung der Emission von VOC und ggf. VVOC, insbesondere zur Verminderung der Emission von Terpenen und Säuren. Schließlich richtet sich die Anmeldung auf mit dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren erhältliche Holzwerkstoffe, bzw. durch Verwendung der Additive hergestellte Holzwerkstoffe mit verringerter Emission von flüchtigen organischen Verbindungen, insbesondere Terpenen und Säuren.
