[origin: WO2012034155A1] The invention relates to a shaft cover, which has a lid (2), a safety grate (3), and a railing (4), wherein said parts are each pivotably fastened to a frame (1) that surrounds the shaft opening and can be pivoted back and forth between an overturned, closed position and a raised open position, wherein in the overturned position of the railing (4), at least part of the railing (4) is arranged over the overturned safety grate (3) and lies in the motion path of the safety grate (3) from the overturned position to the raised position and wherein the overturned safety grate (3) and the overturned railing (4) can be covered by overturning the lid (2). The safety grate (3) and the railing (4) are produced as individual parts that are separated from each other. In the raised state, at least part of the safety grate (3) is in the motion path of part of the railing (4) in the transition of the railing from the raised position to the closed position.
