The container (11) has a side wall (14) attached on a container base part (12) and a container upper part (16). A closure (18) is arranged in the side wall, and comprises a latch pivoted in a plane of the side wall. A locking element is fastened at the container base part or the container upper part. The latch is engaged at the container upper part in a closing position. The latch of the closure is operated from an outer side of the side wall and changed from an open position into the closing position.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Transportbehälter (11) zum Transport oder zur Lagerung von Waren, insbesondere von Schüttgut, mit einem Behälteroberteil (16), einem Behälterunterteil (12) und zumindest einer dazwischen angeordneten Seitenwand (14), wobei die zumindest eine Seitenwand (14) auf das Behälterunterteil (12) und das Behälteroberteil (16) auf die zumindest eine Seitenwand (14) aufsetzbar ist, mit einem Verschluss (18), der in der Seitenwand (14) angeordnet ist und einen Riegel (19) aufweist, welcher in der Ebene der Seitenwand (14) schwenkbar ist und mit einem Verriegelungselement (45), das am Behälterboden (12) oder Behälterdeckel (16) befestigt ist, an welchem der Riegel (19) in einer Schließstellung (82) angreift, wobei der Riegel (19) des Verschlusses (18) von einer Außenseite der Seitenwand (14) bedienbar und aus einer Offenstellung (80) in eine selbsthaltende Schließstellung (82) überführbar ist.
