Abstract (en)

A cap (136) for covering a reagent container (110) is disclosed, the cap (136) is adapted to allow for repeatedly inserting a pipette (194) through the cap (136) into the reagent container (110). The cap (136) comprises a frame (140) adapted to at least partially cover at least one opening (138) of the reagent container (110). The cap (136) further comprises at least one sponge element (152) attached to the frame (140). The sponge element (152) is adapted to at least partially close the opening (138) of the reagent container (110). The sponge element (152) comprises a sponge material (154) adapted to receive and hold a liquid having at least the volume of the sponge element (152) in a dry state, preferably an aqueous liquid and more preferably water. The sponge element (152) comprises at least one perforation (164) extending from an outer side (166) of the sponge element (152) facing away from an interior of the reagent container (110) to an inner side (168) of the sponge element (152) facing towards the interior (114) of the reagent container (110). The perforation (164) allows for a repeated insertion of the pipette (194) into the reagent container (110) and for a repeated removal of the pipette (194) from the reagent container (110).
