[origin: WO2012079902A1] The invention provides a method and an apparatus for parameterizing a device (1) with parameters from a parameter list (PL), wherein in the event of a match between an external parameter token (PTexternal), calculated externally on the basis of the parameter list (PL), and an internal parameter token (PTinternal), calculated internally by the device (1) to be parameterized on the basis of the parameter list (PL), an external device token (GTexternal) which is input into the device (1) is compared with an internal device token (PTinternal), which is calculated internally by the device (1) to be parameterized on the basis of a device ID (G-ID) for the device (1) and the internal parameter token (PTinternal), in order to validate the parameter list (3). The method according to the invention and the parameterization apparatus according to the invention allow fast and reliable parameterization of a device, particularly a safety-critical device, which is provided in an industrial installation or a vehicle.
