Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2012038260A1] A method for monitoring at least two microcontrollers (12, 20) using a watchdog (10) is described. The watchdog (10) is associated with a first microcontroller (12) and monitors the communication of a message from the first microcontroller (12) within a time interval of a predefined duration (224). The message communicated to the watchdog (10) by the first microcontroller (12) contains a contribution which is formed (224) on account of communication (202, 216) between the first microcontroller (12) and a second microcontroller (20) connected to the latter and on the basis of which the watchdog (10) checks the proper method of operation of the second microcontroller (20). The invention also describes a circuit arrangement and a battery (100) with a battery management unit which are designed to carry out the method according to the invention.
