[origin: WO2012042147A1] The invention relates to a lower crossbeam (16) for a window opening, said lower crossbeam to be installed between an edge (45) of a windshield (44) and a firewall (42). Said crossbeam (16) includes: a first portion (26) having an attachment edge (56) connected to a firewall (42) and a receiving edge (62) for receiving said windshield edge (45); and a second portion (28) having a bearing edge (68) and a connecting edge (66) connected to said first portion (26) while dividing said first portion into a receiving portion (70) and an attachment portion (72). According to the invention, said bearing edge (68) is connectable to said firewall (42) so as to form a transverse hollow shell (82) between said second portion (28) and said attachment portion (72).
