Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2483925A] A unitary keyboard or keypad 100 comprises a plurality of keys; each key 110 being located at the bottom of a recess [Fig. 4], or alternatively the key itself is recessed [Fig. 5]. The key is actuated by a digit or finger being inserted into the recess. This is to help those with difficulty with fine motor control and/or physical co-ordination (such as Parkinsons disease or arthritis) to find the correct keys. The keyboard may be constructed from a flexible, elastomeric material such as rubber or silicone. The electrical contacts which signal that a key has been pressed may be completely sealed from the exterior so the keyboard would be water-resistant or waterproof. The recess may be in the form of an open cylinder. The keys may be arranged in a standard QWERTY arrangement, and may include a numeric keypad. A plurality of space keys [Fig. 2, 112] and function keys may be provided.
