[origin: EP2624223A2] The method involves evaluating access right data in access control device for detection of access authority. An authentication of the electronic identification medium is enabled based on a digital certificate. A common session key is shared by the electronic identification medium and access control device, for establishing a safe transmission channel between the electronic identification medium and access control device. The access right data is transmitted over the safe channel by electronic identification medium to access control device. An independent claim is included for device for enabling access control in building.
