The automatic fire detector (1) has a housing (10) with a measuring chamber (11) for detection of smoke particles, and a sensor system for detecting a measurement variable for evaluating the operational capability of the automatic fire detector. An evaluation device is provided for evaluating the operational capability of the automatic fire detector on the basis of the measurement variable. The sensor system comprises a flow sensor for detecting the flow as the measurement variable for evaluating the operational capability of the automatic fire detector.

Automatische Brandmeldeeinrichtungen dienen zur Detektion von Bränden und zur Auslösung eines Alarms im Falle eines detektieren Brands. Um die Einsatzfähigkeit von automatischen Brandmeldeeinrichtungen jederzeit sicherstellen zu können, ergibt sich eine Notwendigkeit der manuellen oder automatischen Überprüfung der Brandmeldeeinrichtung. Es wird ein automatischer Brandmelder zur Detektion von Bränden vorgeschlagen, mit einem Gehäuse 10, wobei das Gehäuse 10 eine Messkammer 11 zur Detektion von Rauchpartikeln umfasst, mit einer Sensorik zur Erfassung einer Messgröße zur Bewertung der Einsatzfähigkeit des automatischen Brandmelders 1, mit einer Auswerteeinrichtung 20 zur Auswertung der Einsatzfähigkeit des automatischen Brandmelders 1 auf Basis der Messgröße, wobei die Sensorik mindestens einen Strömungssensor zur Erfassung von einer Strömung als die Messgröße zur Bewertung der Einsatzfähigkeit des automatischen Brandmelders 1 umfasst.
