[origin: WO2012045701A1] A description is given of a method for producing a rotationally symmetrical component (14), which tapers at least in one axial portion (15), from a flat piece of sheet metal (1, 4). The method is characterized in that, in a first step, a flat piece of sheet metal (4) is shaped in a deep-drawing process between a first die (5) and a punch (7) in such a way that a tapering region (15) is formed in at least one axial portion, and in a second step, said at least one tapering region (15) is machined in a non-cutting finishing operation between a second die (8, 35) and a machining tool (24, 30), which rotates about the axis of symmetry and subjects the tapering region (15) to loading only in one or more linear regions (25) that are distributed around the circumference.
