[origin: WO2012045552A1] The invention relates to a system and method for drying a wet material or bulk good (40), in particular biomass. The material (40) to be dried is conveyed at least partially through a drying chamber (1) by means of a transport device (111). Heated air (100) is fed through the drying chamber substantially along or opposite the transport direction of the material to be dried. The residual heat of the air (101) still present after passing through the drying chamber is fed back into the system by means of at least one heat exchanger (3), so that the energy consumption for drying the material is below the required enthalpy of evaporation of water, and preferably below 2,200 kJ/kg, particularly preferably below 1,500 kJ/kg and preferably below 1,000 kJ/kg.
