[origin: EP2631575A2] The refrigerator (10) has a horizontal support rail which is secured in access opening vertical plane at cabinet (12). A sliding door element (40,41) is arranged in access opening vertical plane along transverse direction. A damping arrangement is connected to carriage (30) and cabinet to attenuate closing movement of sliding door. A damping piston is slidably arranged in horizontal damping cylinder, and damping cylinder or damping piston is provided with a valve element to ventilate enclosed cylindrical space during the opening of sliding door.
