Abstract (en)
The method involves separating an electric arc (62) formed in two secondary electric arcs (64, 68) between main electrodes (24, 28) and an intermediate electrode (26). A semiconductor switch e.g. insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) or FET, is arranged in a normally open state, where the switch connects the intermediate electrode to one of the main electrodes. The switch is closed for extinguishing the secondary electric arc. The switch is opened for extinguishing the other secondary electric arc. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for protecting an electric installation (2) a device for protecting an electric installation.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé de coupure d'un arc électrique se formant entre deux électrodes principales, le procédé comprenant : le déplacement de l'arc électrique formé vers une électrode (26) située dans un positionnement intermédiaire entre les deux électrodes principales (24, 28) ; la séparation de l'arc électrique formé (62) en deux arcs électriques secondaires (64, 68), un interrupteur à semi-conducteur normalement ouvert reliant l'électrode intermédiaire (26) à une des électrodes principales (24); la fermeture de l'interrupteur à semi-conducteurs pour éteindre l'arc électrique secondaire (64) entre les deux électrodes (24, 26) que l'interrupteur à semi-conducteurs relie; l'ouverture de l'interrupteur à semi-conducteurs pour éteindre l'autre arc électrique secondaire (68). L'invention se rapporte en outre à un procédé de protection et à un dispositif de protection, notamment à un dispositif de protection spécialement conçu pour la mise en oeuvre du procédé.
