Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2012059369A1] The invention relates to a separable ejectable protective nose cone for a guided munition including a cylindrical munition body (10) having a longitudinal axis ZZ' and a front end (12) comprising a central region to be directed toward a target of the munition. The nose cone includes, at the front end (12) of the munition body and covering said front end (12), n contiguous identically-shaped nose-cone portions (C2) distributed about said longitudinal axis ZZ', each nose-cone portion (C2) being provided with a respective pyrotechnic squib (32). Each pyrotechnic squib comprises a pyrotechnic squib body (40) rigidly connected to the munition body (10), a pusher piston (42) contacting the respective nose-cone portion. The simultaneous activation of the n pyrotechnic squibs separates the edges of the nose-cone portions from the respective assembly plane thereof so as to free the front end (12) of the munition body. The invention can be used for guided munitions such as rockets or projectiles, or missiles.
