[origin: WO2012059462A1] The invention relates to a device for protecting an area of the human body including a joint, which comprises a semi-rigid outer shell (10) made of an elastically deformable material, and an inner shock-absorbing protective element (20) which is to be placed opposite the body. The device is capable of being laterally deformed so as to match the shape of the body in the area including the joint. Said device further comprises means capable of maintaining same in each given lateral-deformation position, said means being provided in the form of rigid, deformable transverse inserts, and means (105, 205) for folding the device along a transverse axis.
