[origin: WO2012059271A1] The invention relates to a cross-lapper for forming a nonwoven fabric made of a plurality of pile layers, consisting of a continuously revolving feed belt, and a counter belt continuously revolving at the same speed and in the opposite direction, wherein the feed belt and the counter belt are guided around two adjacent laying rollers which form a laying gap, wherein said laying rollers are arranged in a laying carriage, which is movably mounted transversely to and above a discharge belt receiving the nonwoven fabric to be laid and moves back and forth periodically, wherein the two belts run on both sides of the laying gap, parallel to the plane of the discharge belt, under tension with respect to deflection rollers arranged in the lapper. According to the invention, switching means (SSE, SSG) are provided, by means of which the feed belt and the counter belt (E, G) can be deflected out of the plane extending parallel to the plane of the discharge belt (AB).
