Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2637036A1] The front-end module has a receiver which receives light reflected or remitted from the detection region (13) or for receiving light transmitted through detection region. An evaluation unit (14) evaluates the received light. The housing (11) has an inlet opening for the entry of portion of detection light (16) into module. A test light receiver (24) receives detection light incident as test light (22) and performs power measurement of detection light incident as test light at test light receiver. A signal output device outputs an output signal correlated with the test light power. An independent claim is included for method for operating optical sensor.
