The device (10) has a plug for electrically conductively contacting two power lines (82, 84) of an alternating current (AC) outlet (80), where the device is insertable in the outlet by two alternative plug-in alignments and operable in two different lighting modes. The plug is arranged at a housing. A detecting unit (12) detects the plug-in alignment. Another detecting unit (16) detects a default lighting mode such that one of the lighting modes is determined based on the detection of the plug-in alignment. The plug is designed as CEE 7/4 plug, CEE 7/16 plug or CEE 7/7 plug. An independent claim is also included for a system with a lighting device.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Beleuchtungsvorrichtung (10) zum Einstecken in eine Netzsteckdose (80), mit einem Gehäuse und einem Stecker zum elektrisch leitenden Kontaktieren von mindestens zwei Stromleitungen (82, 84) der Netzsteckdose, wobei die Beleuchtungsvorrichtung (10) in zwei alternativen Einsteckausrichtungen in die Netzsteckdose (80) einsteckbar ist und in zwei unterschiedlichen Beleuchtungsmodi betreibbar ist und wobei der Stecker (40) an dem Gehäuse angeordnet ist um die Beleuchtungsvorrichtung (10) im eingesteckten Zustand ortsfest in der Netzsteckdose (80) zu halten, wobei Mittel zum Erfassen der Einsteckausrichtung (12) und Mittel zur Beleuchtungsmodusvorgabe (16), die so ausgebildet sind, dass sie in Abhängigkeit der von den Mittel zum Erfassen der Einsteckausrichtung (12) erfassten Einsteckausrichtung einen der Beleuchtungsmodi bestimmen.
