[origin: WO2012069325A1] The invention relates to a device for standstill monitoring in rail vehicles with a train control system and an odometric device for ascertaining and evaluating wheel rotations. The aim of the invention is to make it possible to dispense with a device for standstill monitoring when the train control system is switched off, said device being especially designed for this purpose. This is achieved in that a dedicated power supply device that is independent of the train control system is provided in order to maintain the function of the odometric device during the switched-off phases of the train control system. The odometric device has storing means for storing the wheel rotations determined during the switched-off phases of the train control system or the derived variables.
