[origin: EP2648476A1] The device (12) has a rectifier unit (30) provided for rectifying current of an electric power source (18) i.e. power supply. The rectifier unit comprises quick-recovering rectifying elements (32, 34, 36, 38) i.e. diodes. A heating frequency unit (50) applies energy over the rectifier unit in an operating mode and supplies an induction heating unit (20) i.e. cook field inductor, with a high frequency alternating current. A resonance unit (60) forms a resonance pitch circle with the induction heating unit and is connected directly with the electric power source in the operating mode. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an induction heating device.
