[origin: EP2653044A2] The device (1) has a combining unit (5) for combining filter segments into groups of filter segments, three magazines (10,20,30) for filter rods, a filter segment feeding unit (11) between the former magazine and the combining unit, another filter segment feeding unit (21) between the latter magazine and the combining unit, and the third filter segment feeding unit (31) between the third magazine and the combining unit. A free space (12, 22, 32) is formed above each magazine for a tray (40), and another free space (14, 24, 34) is provided next to the former free space for the tray base (42). The former free space of the third magazine is arranged below the latter free space of the latter magazine. The third magazine and the third filter segment feeding unit are combined to form a replaceable module structural unit (3). An independent claim is included for a machine for producing multi-segment filters by a filter element groups combining device in a continuous process in a tobacco processing industry.
