The tool e.g. electrical drilling hammer (1), has a tool holder (2) for holding a chiseling tool on an operating axis (10). A pneumatic hammer mechanism (6) comprises a hammer unit (13) moved on the axis. An exciter (12) is driven by a motor (5) between a tool-far front dead point and a tool-near dead point. A pneumatic chamber (15) couples movement of the exciter to the hammer unit. A damping device comprises a controlled exhaust valve passing air from a blower into the pneumatic chamber, if the exciter is provided in proximity of the tool-far dead point. The exciter and the hammer unit are designed as a cylindrical piston. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a hand-held machine tool.

Die erfindungsgemäße Handwerkzeugmaschine hat eine Werkzeugaufnahme zum Haltern eines meißelnden Werkzeugs auf einer Arbeitsachse 10. Ein pneumatisches Schlagwerk hat auf der Arbeitsachse 10 einen beweglichen Schläger 13, einen Erreger 12 und eine von dem Erreger 12 und dem Schläger 13 abgeschlossene pneumatische Kammer 15, die die Bewegung des Erregers 12 an den Schläger 13 ankoppelt. Der Erreger 12 ist von einem Motor angetrieben und bewegt sich zwischen einem werkzeug-fernen vorderen Totpunkt und einem werkzeug-nahen Totpunkt hin-und-her. Eine Dämpfeinrichtung enthält einen Vorverdichter 19 und ein gesteuertes Auslassventil 32. Das gesteuerte Auslassventil 32 lässt Luft von dem Vorverdichter 19 in die pneumatische Kammer 15 einströmen, wenn der Erreger 12 in der Nähe des werkzeug-fernen Totpunkts ist.
