Determination is made (210) to check whether the sensor or transmission link includes an error between the sensor and an evaluation circuit. Checking process is performed for a time period during an operation of the electric power tool and/or during a rest break of the electric power tool. Acoustic and/or optical warnings are delivered (230) to a user of the electric power tool, if the error is recognized. A mode of operation of the electric power tool is changed (240) if the error is recognized. An independent claim is also included for an electric power tool.
