[origin: WO2012089370A1] In a pressure switching valve for a fuel injection system of an internal combustion engine, having a cylinder (42) in which a closure body (44) for selectively closing off an inlet (46) is movable, the closure body (44) is provided with a first active surface (48) which is acted on by hydraulic pressure for opening the inlet (46), and the closure body (44) has a second active surface (50) which is formed so as to be larger than the first active surface (48). The figures illustrate a pressure regulating valve (28) which discharges the fuel through an outlet (54) as a function of the pressure in the low-pressure delivery line (18, 66) and the hydraulic pressure on the first (48) and second (50) active surface.
